History of Mt. Idaho Baptist Church In May of 1998, Pastor Randy Myers performed a renewal of vows ceremony for Leroy and Regina Steadman. A month later, they attended the morning Worship Service at Pleasant View Baptist Church, White Bird, Idaho. Regina accepted Christ as her Savior, and Leroy rededicated his life. This was the reason and begining of the Bible Study that began at Mt. Idaho. The second week of the Bible study, Althea Schuerman (Leroy's sister) accepted the Lord and his daughter rededicated her life. Within three months, the Anderson, miller and DeRamus families were attending the Bible study. After completing the study, "Experiencing God," it was felt that God was taking the group beyond just a Bible study. The first church ever in Mt. Idaho, Mt. Idaho Baptist Mission, was formally organized on January 3, 1999.
The theme for the LifeWay VBS material for 1999 was "Mt. Extreme." The Mission set up tents in an open field between the Anderson and DeRamus homes, and used the Anderson's garage for meals and crafts. The visiting Tennessee Youth Group experienced snow in June. Pastor Mike McGuire preached the first revival in Mt. Idaho in the evenings following VBS. A combination VBS graduation and revival service was held and over 100 people attended. Altogether, 8 people were saved. A mission group from Centennial Baptist Association, Georgia came and helped with VBS and revival in 2000.
It was decided to begin meeting in the Anderson's garage and to put up signs and advertise. Many activities have taken place with souls being saved and lives changed.
